In the heart of the Luberon Valley, just 45 minutes from Avignon, the Coquillade Provence is the epitome of countryside tranquillity. But the history of the estate goes back much further. The oldest walls of the small village date back to the 11th century and, according to legend, it was founded by Cistercian monks from Sénanque Abbey.
Today, the 100-acre property is home to a vineyard, a 300-year-old olive tree grove, a restored hamlet with 69 large rooms and suites as well as a six room villa, a luxury spa (including a hammam, and an indoor pool) and three restaurants. In addition to the diverse culinary selection, the Coquillade is notable for its wine production.
The Domaine de la Coquillade vineyards have been producing wine since the 13th century. Since September 2021, Domaine de la Coquillade is one of the first climate neutral wineries in the South of France. If that’s not enough, guests can enjoy the estate’s extensive art collection. The owners of the Coquillade, Oliver and Tobias Rihs, are showcasing excerpts from their private collection, consisting of paintings, photographs and sculptures, spread throughout the hotel.
It is our desire to enable you to learn about the personalities behind the works you’ll discover throughout Coquillade Provence.
We consider art to be a gift: it enters the artist’s mind as inspiration and takes shape as talent and dedication are applied.
