Can Alomar, a restored 19th-century palace that once was home to the Mallorcan aristocracy, is located in the picturesque Carrer de Sant Feliu in Palma de Mallorca. In a prime location, right on Palma’s Golden Mile, the hotel is surrounded by centuries-old trees, fashion houses and the city’s leading galleries. All properties of the It Mallorca collection are located in buildings of significant architectural interest. Founders Miguel Conde and his wife, architect Cristina Marti, have decided to restore only historic buildings in order to give them back to the locals and guests. A special charm that can be felt at every corner. Upon entering the hotel, guests are already greeted by the first iconic object: a chandelier shaped from antique glass, designed by Conde himself.
This piece is a symbol of the harmony between heritage and modernity, capturing the essence of timeless craftsmanship brought into today’s world. Not only the love of design but also of art is once again clearly reflected at Can Alomar. The hotel is home to a unique art collection with over 40 works by local and international artists, including Jordi Alcaraz, Guillem Nadal, Roland Fischer and Manolo Ballesteros. Can Alomar is also home to the excellent restaurant De Tokio A Lima, a fusion of Mediterranean cuisine with the flavors of Japan and Peru. Chef Germán de Bernardi presents a creative and sustainable menu with all the diversity of Mallorca, based on the authenticity and purity of seasonal ingredients.
Just a 5-minute drive from Can Alomar lies another pearl of the It Mallorca collection: in a small alley, right next to the BasÃlica de Sant Francesc, nestles Can Cera, the hotel group’s first house. With just 14 rooms, Can Cera is the perfect intimate place, hidden behind heavy old doors. The 17th-century palace is now home to an aesthetic blend of art and design, which is characterized by natural materials such as stone, marble and wood and is reminiscent of Mallorca’s artisan roots.
Even some of the original furniture from the 17th-century can still be found at Can Cera. Combined with iconic design by Carl Hansen and Jean Prouvé, as well as atmospheric lighting by Davide Groppi and Matteo Ugolini, it forms a unique dialog between the past and present. Local artists such as Jaume Roig and Adriana Meunié contribute their handmade ceramics and textiles, while the iron sculptures by Jordi Alcaraz add a contemporary touch.
It Mallorca offers six hotels on Mallorca. While the individual characters differ and are built around the unique architecture and location, they always live up to the highest standards and come with a premium touch. This makes it a joy to explore Mallorca traveling from one It Mallorca hotel to the next. For more also see this earlier article.
