GEORG JENSEN
Organic and sensual, yet sculptural and bold – The Mercy Collection wraps gently around parts of the body. Around the fingers. Around the neck and ears. An emotional embodiment of the way life transforms and evolves through our experiences. But let’s take a step back and look at the background of the line designed by American artist Jacqueline Rabun. Rabun launched her debut collection in 1990 – a series of hand-sculptured organic forms. An illustration of the human experience through the medium of jewelry, which gained her instant recognition among collectors of contemporary art and design. Since then, fluid conceptual forms and a poetic take on design have become the signature look of Rabun. These elements can also be found in her work for GEORG JENSEN.
Jacqueline Rabun started a long-term partnership with the Danish jewelry house in 1999 focusing on an intuitive goal to interpret Scandinavian design. Since then, her creations have been exhibited at Staten Museum for Kunst at the “Georg Jensen’s 100 Years” show in 2004 and at Koldinghus Museum at “Georg Jensen: A Tale of Danish Silver” in 2015. Rabun’s design language makes her creations so unique and renowned. Her concept carries her passion for organic and architectural forms as well as noble materials. Pieces which are not merely design objects but rather wearable works of art, always connected with a story. The Mercy Collection is characterized by an organic flow of metal running in a soft shape from wide to slim. Its characteristic shape is inspired by an hourglass – a symbol and reminder to live in the present. Life evolves through our experiences and beautiful things may come when we least expect it. A strong symbolism with a contemporary feel.
This Spring/Summer 2020, GEORG JENSEN extends the sculptural and organic expression of Mercy into the golden realm. The new 18kt yellow gold pieces complement the existing silver styles of one of the most famous GEORG JENSEN jewelry lines. Brilliant cut diamonds are added to the iconic pieces to accentuate their organic flow – all set by hand. The rings are ideal for stacking them together, combining sizes, different metals and diamonds for an unique look. Mixing and matching within the collection is now taken to perfection.
